For e-book reader:

Skill: Easy

Install:

Book2Pod1.22.dmg (mac)

Ipod library (PC)

Once the installation is done just download and import an e book; it has to be in an ipod friendly format which is not sold by ebooks.com or amazon.com. Project Gutenberg gives free e book downloads in ipod friendly formats.

Once you upload the ebook just tell the program where to break the book. (iPods can only support 4,000 word notes) Before the word "chapter" is a good idea. Once you've done that, select which drive your ipod represents in settings.

The same basic steps will be used for book2pod.

For flash drive:

Skill: Mediocre

Go into explorer (windows) or finder (mac) and if your ipod is plugged in it should be recognized as a disk. If it isn't follow these steps:

1. Disconnect and then reconnect your ipod.

2. Move the hold switch to the on position then back to the off.

3. Hold down the select and menu buttons so you can reboot your ipod.

4. When the ipod displays the apple logo hold down the select and play button. This will force the computer to recognize you ipod as a disk.

5. Transfer any files you want to your ipod and then repeat the steps to get them off. Windows will only let you transfer files smaller than 4 gigabytes. (4 billion bytes) But OS will let you upload anything smaller than 65 gigabytes.
